FDR Memorial Foundation Archive

We keep and preserve archival materials related to the FDR Memorial, which range from information on the initial design and construction of the FDR Memorial in the late twentieth century to the campaign for the FDR wheelchair statue in 1997. These archives include photos, newspaper articles, and blueprints, among other documents and correspondence. We are currently working to organize and digitize these archives to make them publicly available.

Special thanks to the following individuals who have donated their archival materials:

  • Jane Deland, who donated the archives of her late husband Mike Deland related to the FDR wheelchair statue addition.
  • Steven Koch, who donated archives related to his work with FDR Memorial designer Lawrence Halprin* during the final design phase of the Memorial.
